How many times a week would you say you think this exact thought? I know I hear people saying it all the time...I can only imagine how many times people think it!
Between school, work, church, and all the activities kids are involved in these days, we are all in a constant state of movement it seems. There are many weeks that my husband and I could literally high five on the way in/out the door and not see each other until after bedtime most nights! In my family alone, on a daily basis we have anywhere from 2-6 activities an evening...and that doesn't even count homework! There are times I feel as if my calendar isn't large enough to hold all of the information I need to function from day to day.
But you know what...I'm glad! My kids are well-rounded, involved, healthy, and happy kids. I think about it this way. There are so many families in the world that don't get to enjoy seeing their child shine on stage, score a goal, play a musical instrument, etc. There are families that, instead, have to spend their days and evenings working just to get by, or even worse, bringing their children to appointment after appointment to help control or cure an illness or disease they have been handed.
I am so blessed to be busy hustling and bustling from the track to the stage to the field to the lesson than not. We are given these children for such a short time in their lives...and someday, when all the hustling is done and all the kids are off hustling their own kids, my husband and I will look at each other and wonder what to do now. At that point, we can high five sitting next to each other on the sidelines or in the stands as we watch our grandkids shine!
So, the next time someone says, 'Ugh, we're just so busy', tell them how lucky they are that they get to be.
